DSM n-3 Production Back Online

KAISERAUGST, Switzerland—DSM Nutritional Products announced production of its ROPUFA® essential fatty acid (EFA) oil products is back in-house and online, following a fire at its Heanor, England, facility that knocked out the company’s EFA production for more than a year. DSM is now producing its n-3 and n-6 ROPUFA forms out of its plant in Sisseln, Switzerland. According to the company, relocating operations also allowed it to improve production processes as well as the taste, stability and purity of its products.

“DSM’s ROPUFA products are manufactured to meet the growing needs and requirements of our customers,” said Krijn Rietveld, senior vice president of DSM’s Nutrition Innovation Group. “Our new production plant takes the leadership position to a new level. Increasingly, consumers understand the benefits of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids; however, not everyone enjoys eating fish. ROPUFA offers consumers what they are asking for: ‘the goodness of fish without the fishy.’ It fits perfectly with DSM Nutritional Products’ focus on ingredient quality, traceability and reliability.”
