CRN Announces Lineup for ‘Day of Science’

WASHINGTON— The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) will host its one-day symposium, “The Workshop: CRN’s Day of Science,” on Thursday, May 8, at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City hotel. The symposium will feature a keynote address by Tieraona Low Dog, M.D., University of Arizona and three sessions, each focused on a specific area of dietary supplement research.

Dietary Supplements and Disease Management: Presenters include David Perlmutter, M.D., on neurodegenerative disease; Jim LaValle, R.Ph., N.D., on supplement-drug interactions; and Aviad Haramati, Ph.D., about educational initiatives in integrative medicine.

Continuing on the Paradigm of Prevention: Presenters such as Jeffrey Blumberg, Ph.D., Cheryl Ritenbaugh, Ph.D., and Jonathan Berman, M.D., Ph.D., will look outside the box of evidence-based medicine to consider the value of other types of scientific research for dietary supplements.

Ensuring the Integrity of Raw Materials: The final session will address material identification and method validation and feature Joseph M. Betz, Ph.D., Edward J. Kennelly, Ph.D., Paula Brown, M.Sc., Mark Roman, Ph.D., and John H. Cardellina II, Ph.D.
