Cargill Selling Zerose in China

09/16/2008

MINNEAPOLIS—Cargill announced it received regulatory approval from Chinese authorities to sell its Zerose™ erythritol for food and beverage manufacturing in China, with no restriction on its applications. The company will also supply an organic version of Zerose. Cargill will hold a technical seminar on Sept. 22 in Shanghai to educate food manufacturers and formulators about new product development opportunities; a second seminar will be held at a later date in Guangzhou.

During the seminar, Cargill will discuss the functional and nutritional benefits of Zerose erythritol—a natural, non-caloric bulk sweetener—and will unveil a wide range of application capabilities including confections, beverages, jellies and jelly drinks, tabletop sweeteners and oral care. “Zerose erythritol offers a solution to both health and indulgence,” said Steven Tung, Cargill sales manager (Greater China). “The ultimate winners will be food manufacturers who can combine zero calorie properties with excellent taste, satisfying mouthfeel and an appeal to the growing healthy-lifestyle Chinese market.”
