SILVER SPRING, Md.—The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) will present its 2008 AHPA Awards during its member meeting on March 13 in Anaheim, Calif., held in conjunction with Natural Products Expo West. The awards were established in 2005 to honor individuals and organizations that make substantive, positive contributions to the herbal products industry. This year’s winners are:
2008 AHPA Hero: Anthony Young, AHPA’s general counsel and partner with the law firm Kleinfeld, Kaplan and Becker LLP.
2008 AHPA Herbal Insight Award: Steven Foster, author, photographer, and herbalist.
2008 AHPA Herbal Insight Award: Stephen Straus, M.D.(deceased), first director of NIH’s National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM).
2008 AHPA Herbal Industry Leader: Herb Pharm.
“The contributions of each of the 2008 AHPA Awards recipients are worthy of special recognition and thanks, and we are honored to acknowledge them,” said Michael McGuffin, AHPA’s president.
