Anthocyanins Reveal Significant Potency

by Lisa Frazier
02/08/2008

KASUGAI , Japan ,— An accumulation of excess adipose tissue (Adipocyte dysfunction) may result in obesity, which may also lead to insulin resistance and possibly Metabolic Syndrome. A group of Japanese scientists studied the regulation of Adipocyte function via the use of anthocyanins (J Agric Food Chem, 2008; 56(3): 642-46).

Anthocyanins are used as food coloring and are distributed widely in the general diet. This study showed anthocyanins may have significant potency towards anti-obesity, suggesting even further strides in possibly preventing Metabolic Syndrome.
