YAKAPINAR, Turkey—Tat Nisasta, a Turkish starch, glucose and isoglucose manufacturer, entered into a sales and marketing agreement with the Galam Group, effective worldwide except for in Turkey. Tat has established a new plant for the production of crystalline fructose, to be commissioned by the end of 2008. Galam Group is the leading crystalline fructose supplier in Europe. The fructose produced today by Galam and, in the future, by Tat is non-GM (genetically modified) and is used in various applications including dairy, beverages and baked goods.
According to Tat, the partnership will increase the opportunities for fructose on the market and is in line with the continuously growing demand for low-GI (glycemic index) and low-calorie natural products. Galam Group will also assist in technical support at Tat, helping to harmonize the new production to Galam standards.
