One Down, Two To Go

Interesting show that Vitafoods. Lots of familiar faces from other U.S. trade shows. It sure helped seeing a familiar face on the train platform. I knew I was headed in the right direction to the PalExpo Convention Center.

If only the aisles and booth numbers at the show were easy to follow like SupplySide shows. I never thought I would have to depend on overhead signage to find an exhibitor! Wait - get me my glasses. I suppose the other thing that is different for me is I’m not used to going to a show and not exhibiting or having a multitude of clients where I am busy orchestrating promotional events. I have clients here, but no seminars or receptions. Hey is any company hosting a reception? There’s got to be a scotch party somewhere!

One U.S. industry rep referred to this as a “stealth” show, i.e., it doesn’t look like there are a lot of attendees, but those who are here are real decision makers. The train access to the convention center is nice, something Chicago should have for its McCormick Place location. The food in the restaurant area sure was a lot better than shows in the United States. Can you believe a salad bar?

I walked the show floor seeing ingredients and retail products manufacturers. Outstanding booth designs, great packaging and beautiful collateral. Nice to see some of the work I created being used. Made a few business contacts. Let’s see what happens on day two.

By the way, I found the Virgo booth. But I’m still looking for Todd Willis. Maybe he’s the stealth Virgo trade show booth seller.

FYI … for those who know it, I ate at La Perle Du Lac tonight. Thanks, Steve.
