Pole Tax In Texas

The Texas Supreme Court has agreed to hear the state’s appeal from a ruling issued last June by the 3rd Court of Appeals that struck down the state’s attempt to charge a $5 admission tax in all adult night clubs where sexual expression takes place. Now get this … the proceeds of the tax were supposed to be used for sexual assault prevention, as well as to defray the cost of health insurance for low-income Texans. Of course, neither has anything to do with the expression being taxed. I also didn’t think there were any low-income Texans. They don’t pay state income tax there and that’s one reason a lot of wealthy Americans make their home in that part of the country.

So next time you’re in Las Vegas, maybe at SupplySide West later this year, think twice about where you go party. Unless Nevada state pole taxes go toward buying vitamins for low-income people.
