WALNUT CREEK, Calif.—Nebraska Cultures’ senior executive, Don McKenzie, passed away on Monday at age 73 in Palo Alto, CA, after a brief illness, according to an announcement made by Michael Shahani, director of operations. He is survived by his wife Cori, three children and three grandchildren.

"In addition to being director of marketing for Nebraska Cultures Inc., Don was a good friend to all of us at Nebraska Cultures, and his personal devotion to our company and its mission was exemplary,"  Shahani said.

McKenzie joined Nebraska Cultures in 2003 to lead the company’s marketing activities and specifically, to expand the company’s market presence in the nutritional supplements industry.

"He was a real champion of the probiotics industry, and even during his final days in the hospital, he continued to encourage us to focus on 'high-quality probiotics, progress on research, integrity and consistency,'" Shanani said. "Don’s dedication, passion, loyalty and tireless efforts helped shape Nebraska Cultures into being one of the nation’s largest and most trusted probiotic manufacturers.  He will be greatly missed."

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, Jan.28 at 10 a.m.
