SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.—Staci Eisner is the newest member to serve on the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) board of directors. AHP said it looks forward to working with Eisner on quality control issues facing the industry.

Eisner has served as a long-standing elected trustee of the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA), a role in which she advocates for more stringent quality standards while exploring creative ways to ensure continued viability of small businesses in the industry. She presently chairs the AHPA government relations committee and participates in AHPA’s numerous subcommittees.

She also serves as the vice chairman of the NSR/ANSI Dietary Supplement Joint Task Force for development of dietary supplement certification standards. Previously, she was a representative to the Institute for Nutraceutical Advancement’s Methods Validation Program. Eisner has been the author or managing editor of several AHPA guidance documents on the manufacture of botanical extracts, standardization, the use of marker compounds, good documentation practices and shelf-life dating.

Eisner graduated with high honors in 1992 from Cornell University with majors in chemistry and biology. She currently works for Cortex Scientific Botanicals, where she is the Vice president of quality and regulatory affairs and is responsible for all aspects of quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

Earlier this month, ASP awarded Roy Upton, RH, with the 2012 Varro. E. Tyler award.
