Linnea announced Don Stanek, director of U.S. sales, was recently re-elected to the Council for Responsible Nutrition’s (CRN) Board of Directors as a suppliers’ representative for a three-year term ending in December 2011. Stanek is also on the Governmental Relations Committee. Stanek has already served on the Board of Directors for one term.

Symrise Flavor & Nutrition, North America, announced several new appointments to top positions. Dr. Matthias Guentert was named president, Symrise Flavor & Nutrition Division, North America; Dr. Claus Oliver Schmidt was appointed new senior vice president; and Scott Mortensen joined Symrise as senior vice president, beverages unit.

NutraGenesis, a nationally recognized marketer of nutraceutical ingredients located in Brattleboro, Vt., hired Craig MacIntyre as national sales manager and director of new business development. MacIntyre came to NutraGenesis with 12 years of experience in the educational publishing business. He was previously CEO of both Oak Meadow Inc., and Patron Services.
MacIntyre will provide an integral role in managing the introduction of NutraGenesis’ bulk branded ingredients to marketers in both the dietary supplement, and functional food and beverage industries.

Professor Giovanni Appendino was appointed editor-in-chief of Fitoterapia, one of the longest-running journals for medicinal plants, founded in 1924 by Indena, and co-published by Indena and Elsevier.

BioSafe Systems announced Carlos Burbano as the new technical representative for the western United States. With 30 years of agricultural experience that includes conventional and certified organic growing, Carlos will be traveling California and Arizona creating solutions for growers. Carlos offers solid technical and problem solving skills for a range of topics, including plant protection and is familiar growing in all climates from temperate to sub-tropical to tropical.
Carlos will not only represent BioSafe Systems’ agriculture line. Through his extensive knowledge about the ornamental and turf industries he will also support greenhouses, nurseries, landscapers and golf courses. A graduate of Colorado State University with Bachelor of Science in agronomy, Carlos is also fluent in Spanish.

PureCircle appointed Dorn Wenninger as corporate vice president, supply chain; and Arne Lugeon as corporate vice president, human resources. Wenninger has more than 16 years of senior management experience with a number of international agribusiness companies, including Chiquita and Driscoll’s. Lugeon has extensive human resource experience in various countries around the world, in particular in Asia.

Fortitech Inc., the world leader in the development of custom nutrient premixes, appointed Rene Engelhardt as senior technical services specialist. Engelhardt will be responsible for formulating nutrient systems containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids and neutraceutical ingredients for food, beverage and pharmaceutical products and providing technical and trouble-shooting support to Fortitech's numerous customers throughout the world.
