Great Review of Sen Hatch Meeting on NDI Draft by Steve Mister
CRN's Steve Mister just wrote a great review of last week's Town Hall meeting called by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) to discuss the FDA's draft guidance on New Dietary Ingredients (NDIs). We have it for you in our SupplySide Community, click here to read it.
Steve points out some very important things about this guidance, such as how it does not follow the intent of Congress in DSHEA (and with Sen. Hatch one of the authors of the law in agreement, it's pretty tough for FDA to credibly suggest otherwise), and how industry needs to be engaged and active on this critical issue. We agree. We have plenty of other observations and opinions from industry leaders in the Community as well. We also have a webinar planned with CRN to dive into this issue (click here for info on that). And, we have a free Town Hall Meeting on the FDA Draft Guidance on NDIs planned for Oct 12 2-5pm during SupplySide West. The lineup includes FDA, AHPA, CRN, NPA, UNPA, other industry leaders and experts on the issue, and a few hundred of your peers in the audience. You can RSVP to ensure you have a seat at www.nditownhall.com.
We also have a ton of content about this situation on our Natural Products Insider site. Click here to go to our Topic Page for the NDI issue and access all of the articles, slides show, blogs and other content we have developed on this subject.
If you do business in the supplement industry, this NDI draft guidance affects you. We are committed to providing the information and resources you need to understand the situation and how it affects your business, and then take appropriate action. Let us know how we can help!
