11 Cool Vertical Farming Ideas

As a dedicated city dweller, I doubt that I will ever live on a farm. But maybe someday I could live next door to one. A vertical farm that is. This piece showing 11 ideas for vertical farms caught my eye, so I thought I would share it. I don't know the economic or scientific feasibility of these ideas, but I like the way they sound. In addition to growing food and herbs closer to the people who want them, such a vertical farm might also allow for more control over the environment in which the food is produced. Imagine a closed system where all inputs (air, water, nutrients, etc) are controlled. Let's face it, our world is not getting any cleaner or less polluted. A lot of the heavy metals and other contaminants found in our food supply are simply there because they are throughout our environment. And in crowded urban areas, doesn't it make sense to produce the food where the people are? And maybe even give some of them some jobs? Anyway, here are a few more interesting sites on the subject.
