Mounting Costs?

Some manufacturers already had many of the supplement GMP (good manufacturing practice) requirements in place when the rule became effective. Many other companies were in a much different position of having to create or shore up testing programs, supplier auditing/verification, quality control procedures and a slew of required records and documentation processes. Still other manufacturers, especially ones with small facilities and staff, found themselves in a position of needing help from outside experts, whether for simply understanding the GMP final rule and what it requires, or to provide lab/testing, recordkeeping and any number of consulting services. All of these things cost money and time.

February will soon be here, and our SupplySide Community will focus discussions on the Cost of Quality, which is currently dominated by GMP compliance. The regular bloggers on community will offer their perspectives, and industry members and other readers will weigh in with their points of view or concerns. Visit the SupplySide Community page to familiarize yourself on the format and check out the current discussion on weight management, then head over in February to read and talk about the Cost of Quality and GMPs.

Then in March, INSIDER will offer a special report on The Cost of Quality, outlining what costs companies are facing in their implementation of quality control procedures, especially GMP requirements, and will look at  how companies are meeting these costs. Find more information about all of INSIDER's special reports on its report webpage, and check back in March for the special Cost of Quality report.
