SHANGHAI, China—Cactus Botanics (CactusBotanics.com) launched a flax seed lignan, rich in secoisolariciresinol diglucosides (SDG). According to the company, dietary ingredients manufactured from lignans contain up to 70 times more SDG; it has also been shown to be the active ingredient and an antioxidant that protects against DNA damage and lipid peroxidation.

SDG may have health-benefit applications in the forms of dietary supplements, functional foods and beverages.
