KEARNY, N.J.—Pharmachem Laboratories Inc. launched StarchLite®, a white kidney bean extract. StarchLite has been shown in clinical studies to delay digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, and reduce the glycemic index (GI) and caloric impact of starchy foods, according to the company (www.starchliteinfo.com). The ingredient can be formulated into a variety of foods and beverages, including cereals, frozen foods, packaged meals, calorie control snacks, pasta, pizza crust, soups and confectionery.

Pharmachem also introduced Lactium™, a milk protein hydrolysate marketed for stress reduction. According to the company, Lactium contains a bio-active peptide with relaxing properties. Lactium is suitable for incorporation into supplements and functional foods and beverages.
