AUSTIN,Texas—The American
Botanical Council (ABC) released Course Two in its online Herbal Information
Course, hosted by the National Training Institute (NTI), a division of Virgo
Publishing. The training and certification program is a recertification course
for those who have already been certified as an Herbal Information Specialist by
taking the first online offering.
Course One, launched in 2004, provides an overview of herbs
and dietary supplements, and general information on 29 popular herbs. Course Two—available at
www.herbtraining.com—provides
additional information on safety, standardization, market data, legal and
regulatory issues, added information on the herbs in Course One, and on more
herbs, including detailed therapeutic data on elderberry.
In additional news, a new chapter on elderberry (Sambucus
nigra L.) was added to The
ABC Clinical Guide to Herbs. Also, continuing
education module (CME) credits are now available to physicians, nurses,
pharmacists and dietitians, and CME credits for physicians are offered at no
charge through the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
