SOUTH PADRE ISLAND,Texas—Two
aloe industry leaders were honored during the International Aloe Science Council’s
(IASC) 24th Annual Scientific Seminar, held here Sept. 10 and 11. Akira Yagi,
Ph.D., research director at the Placenta-Aloe Research Institute Japan
Bioproducts Industry Co. Ltd., received an IASC Hall of Fame award for his work
in validating the scientific merits of Aloe vera. The IASC Hall of Fame award
was also presented to Gene Hale, managing director of IASC, for his 34 years of
service to the aloe industry, including 12 years heading up IASC.
During the conference, Bill Pine, vice president of sales at
Improve USA, stepped down from his two-year term as chairman of the board, and
Mick Anderson, vice president of business development at Aloecorp, was installed
for his two-year stint in the position.
