ANAHEIM, Calif.—A record crowd
of 38,000 industry members from 83 countries attended Natural Products Expo
West, held March 15 to 18 in Anaheim, Calif. According to the show organizer,
New Hope Natural Media, the show boasted more than 2,590 exhibits and a large
increase in retail attendance.
“We’re ecstatic by the growth and diversity on display at
Expo West, but we’re not surprised,” said Fred Linder, president of New
Hope, a division of Penton Media. “More people than ever are choosing to take
greater control over their health. This translates to making better choices at
the grocery store, pharmacy and in restaurants.”
The show included a range of educational seminars and two
keynote presentations, one from Andrew Weil, M.D., and Nicholas Perricone,
M.D.Weil was also on hand for the official launch of the Weil Nutritional
Supplements line, proceeds from which help support the Weil Foundation, a
not-for-profit organization with the goal of furthering integrative medical
practice in the United States. Perricone focused on the anti-aging market and
beneficial nutrients to prevent inflammation, including natural astaxanthin.
