Flax Lignan Information Bureau Established

MINNEAPOLIS—The Flax Lignan Information Bureau is a new information center dedicated to educating consumers, retailers and others about the health benefits of flax lignans. Sponsored by a grant from Acatris Inc., the Flax Lignan Bureau has launched a Web site (www.flaxlignaninfo.com) and developed an advisory board of scientists with a background in flaxseed nutrition. Joceyln Mathern, R.D., a member of the advisory board, said the information bureau will held educate consumers about the different types of flax products and tips for purchasing products with high lignan content. “The Flax Lignan Information Bureau communicates the importance of a diet rich in flax lignans, demonstrates the flax lignan content of various products and provides a central communication vehicle for genuine research testifying to the wide range of health benefits of flax lignans,” Mathern said
