04/28/2003
Albion Files Patent Application for Dimetalhydroxy MalatesCLEARFIELD, Utah--Albion Advanced Nutrition recently announced it filed a patent application for its dimetalhydroxy malates. The application is for composition, method of making and methods of delivery. According to the company, the new process involves attaching two metals to each molecule of malic acid. This effectively doubles the amount of metal that one can obtain from a totally reacted malate complex. Malic acid is considered nontoxic and has GRAS status. Albion concurrently introduced two new ingredients as dimetalhydroxy malates: DiCalcium Malate (30% Ca) and DiMagnesium Malate (19% Mg). The new malates are excellent sources of calcium or magnesium and malic acid. DiCalcium Malate contains 64-percent malate by weight, while DiMagnesium Malate offers 69-percent malate by weight. They can be used in bars, beverages, tablets, capsules and other fortified foods. For more information, visit www.albion-an.com or Booth #1507-1509 at SupplySide East.
