Research Organization. Nutraceutix Inc. appointed Randall Caudill,
Ph.D., to the companys board of directors. He is currently president of
Dunsford Hill Capital Partners. Nutraceutix also hired Kelly Hill as accounts
manager. V. Srini Srinivasan, Ph.D., has been appointed vice president of U.S.
Pharmacopeias Dietary Supplement Verification Program; he was named
acting vice president of the program in March. The Aurora Group hired
Peter H. Anderson as its director of sales and marketing; he worked most
recently with Grandpa Brands Co. Brian Curtiss, chief technology
officer of Analytical Spectral Devices Inc., was appointed to the Food
and Drug Administrations Chemometrics, Statistical Evaluation and
Information Technology Expert Working Group of the Process Analytical Technology
advisory subcommittee. Rexall Sundown Inc. appointed Lawrence M.
Woods as senior vice president, sales. John Keller joined PL Thomas &
Co. as technical manager; he is a food technologist who will head up the
technical and applications department. Ullman, Shapiro & Ullman
announced that Ira R. Hecht, Esq., will serve as business and technology counsel
to the firm. Annette Dickinson, Ph.D., vice president of scientific and
regulatory affairs for the Council for Responsible Nutrition, was an
invited speaker at the annual meeting of the Vitamin Society of Japan. Her
presentation focused on vitamin and mineral education and practice in the United
States. Natural Business presented its 2002 Leadership Awards during
the Sixth Annual Natural Business Market Trends Conference. The four award
recipients were Lester Brown, founder of Earth Policy Institute; Tom
Chappell, co-founder of Toms of Maine; Katherine DiMatteo, executive
director of the Organic Trade Association; and Eric Lombardi, executive
director of Eco-Cycle. Novel Ingredient Services hired Laurie
Burke as a key account manager to handle clients in California and Colorado.
James Neal-Kababick, director and founder of Flora Research, was
appointed to a three-year term as chairman of the AOAC International Methods
Committee on Dietary Supplements. O. Berk Co. honored several
employees at its annual corporate dinner. Kristine Kukich received the
individual of the year award, Graham Stephens was warehouseman of the year,
Walter Blasko was driver of the year, Barbra Salerno was salesperson of the year
and Karen Kudrick received sales service person of the year. Eden Foods
Inc. promoted Sue A. Becker from marketing department manager to vice
president of marketing and sales. Becker also accepted a position on Eden Foods
board of directors. Frontier Natural Brands appointed Jim Leighton as
executive vice president of operations. He worked previously as senior vice
president, operations, for the Hain Celestial Food Group. Kurt H.
Mather was named global security technical service manager for Westvaco Brand
Security. GEA Filtration Division of Niro Inc. announced three
new hires. Bruce Blanchard is sales manager, Michael Roberts is a process
engineer, and Bob Keefe will oversee growth efforts in the nutraceutical,
pharmaceutical and biotech markets. Charkit Chemical Corp. appointed
Panos Yannopoulos as vice president of sales. He worked previously with Aceto
Corp.Vital Living Inc. appointed David J. Maron, M.D., to its
scientific advisory board; Maron is an assistant professor of cardiovascular
medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Beth Gilmartin joined Michaels
Naturopathic Programs as executive aide to company president, Michael
Schwartz. Hueck Foils appointed Manfred G. Rauer as plant manager.
Chino Valley Ranchers added John Marquardt to its sales staff.
Liz Marr, co-founder of Marr Barr Communications and a registered
dietitian, will serve as president of the Colorado Dietetic Association from
April 2002 to April 2003. The board of directors of Gardenburger Inc.
elected Scott Wallace as chairman of the board; he is currently president and
chief executive officer of the company. He succeeds Ron Kesselman, chairman and
CEO of Elmers Products, as chairman of the board.
