Nutrinova to Market DHActive

FRANKFURT, Germany--Nutrinova, the food ingredients division of Celanese AG, will take over operations of Protos-Biotech, Celanese Ventures biotechnology unit. Nutrinova will begin marketing Protos-Biotechs docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) product under the brand name DHActive. Nutrinova added that the ingredient has been self affirmed Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS), allowing it to be used in both dietary supplements and food products.

Based on the interplay between Protos-Biotechs technological competencies and Nutrinovas global presence, market experience and access to customers, we expect the product to be a quick success on the market for functional food products and nutritional supplements, said Arthur Steinmetz, chief executive officer of Nutrinova (www.nutrinova.com).
