Givaudan Acquires Nestle's Flavor Activities, Plans Project With Diversa

GENEVA--Givaudan SA, Vernier, signed an agreement with Nestle SA, Vevey, to acquire its flavor activities, operating under the umbrella of Food Ingredients Specialities (FIS).The move represents a strategically important operational fit for Givaudan, combining its strength in sweet and concentrated flavors with FIS' expertise in savory flavors with base notes, according to the company (www.givaudan.com). As of Feb. 1, the acquisition was still subject to regulatory approval in several countries.

Also, Givaudan Flavors Corp. and Diversa Corp. (www.diversa.com) have agreed to discover and develop novel enzymes and processes for the cost-effective production of new products and consumer applications. Diversa is entitled to receive undisclosed payments from Givaudan, as agreed upon by the parties.
