Cargill Teams with Kroger on Milk Project

09/24/2007
MINNEAPOLIS— Cargill partnered with The Kroger Co. to develop and launch Active Lifestyle fat-free milk containing CoroWise™ brand plant sterols—clinically shown to help lower cholesterol. Two 8-oz. servings of this milk, when consumed with meals, provide the minimum daily amount of plant sterols recognized by FDA as providing a heart-healthy benefit, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol. Moreover, the sterols do not impact the taste or texture of this milk. “Kroger’s Active Lifestyle fat-free milk with the CoroWise brand of plant sterols is an easy way for consumers to get cholesterol-reducing benefits along with the great taste and nutrition of a glass of milk,” said Pam Stauffer, marketing programs manager, Cargill (www.Cargill.com). “Cargill is committed to finding innovative ways to incorporate its beneficial ingredients into healthful foods that fit well into consumers’ lifestyles.”
