Mars Developing Flavanol Products

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.—
Mars Inc. announced a new scientific division, Mars Botanical, which will focus on research and product development involving flavanols, specifically those found naturally in cocoa. “Mars Botanical will solely be focused on advancing flavanols and identifying opportunities to create innovative, new plant-derived products aimed at improving health through evidence-based nutritional offerings,” said Bruce Suezaki, general manager, Mars Botanical (www.CocoaPro.com). “The field of phytonutrients is still in its infancy, and we believe the study of natural plant compounds such as flavanols holds tremendous promise for the future.”
