NSF GMP Registrations Top 71, CMi Acquisition Planned

ANN ARBOR, Mich.— NSF International (www.NSF.org) announced it recently registered five new companies in its GMP (good manufacturing practice) program, following the issuance of final federal GMPs for dietary supplements, bringing the total number of companies that have received NSF GMP registrations to 71. NSF’s program requirements are included in the American National Standard 173-Dietary Supplements and consistent with FDA’s GMPs.

“With the announcement of the final GMPs, registration is more important than ever,” said David Abney, general manager, NSF Dietary Supplements and Functional Foods Certification Programs. He said the following companies have demonstrated their commitment to complying with the GMPs and that quality is of the utmost importance: Enzymedica Inc., Port Charlotte, Fla.; CytoSport Inc., Benicia, Calif.; Main Street Ingredients, La Crosse, Wis.; and AMT Labs Inc., North Salt Lake, Utah. Also, Los Angeles-based Soft Gel Technologies Inc. (SGTI) qualified for GMP for Sport™ Registration, which certifies the company met additional requirements for lab operations, sourcing and traceability to ensure athletic banned substances are not present, stored or manufactured at the facility.

In additional news, NSF announced it reached agreement on terms of a cash offer to acquire CMi plc, an Oxford, England-based food safety and quality assurance company. CMi will operate as a stand-alone business within NSF International Food Safety LLC, supported by NSF’s global resources. CMi will also help expand the combined company’s food safety operations across Europe.
